What do you get when you combine five carefully selected restaurants and an atmospheric riverside? The answer is Food Walk – a new way to learn about organic and locally produced food and the ingenuity of chefs.

The Food Walk card is Turku Touring's latest product, the aim of which is to lead locals and tourists alike into Turku’s restaurant culture. The card allows you to sample full and delicious helpings at Smör, Rocca, Pinella, Svarte Rudolf and Café Art.

For example it currently includes:

Smör’s starter of the day
Rocca’sclassicsalmon soup

Pinellan's saladof the day
SvarteRudolf’swarm chickensandwichwith blue cheese sauce
Coffeeandcake at ArtCafé

– The idea for the Food Walk came during my trip to Miami where I participated in an organised Food Tour, says Anne-Marget Niemi, Director of Tourism. We want to implement the same idea here, but in a more distinctive way; by combining food culture with a tour of Turku’s historic milieu.

The card is not only the first of its kind in Finland, it also makes it easy for people to get to know local restaurants.

– We recommend that the card is used on the same day. And that between meals you visit a museum or go shopping, says Teemu Vappula, Turku Touring's Service Manager.

A vibrant restaurant culture is benefit to all

Restaurant owners are excited about the possibilities the Food Walk card can bring, especially as many restaurants along the River Aura are already cooperating with each other, for example, during the New Potato Festival. The flourishing of a restaurant culture by the riverside is seen by one and all as being mutually beneficial.

– We look forward to new customers, happy faces and more fruitful cooperation, sums up Jim Satamo, Rocca's Director of Business.

Café Art’s owner Anne Haahti has a similar opinion.

– Food Walk card is a fine product, and it's also a great way to network with others.

The card costs 35 euros and is valid for three days once it has been activated. The card is on sale on now and can be bought from Turku Touring’s Tourist Information Centre or purchased online.

The Food Walk card is marketed to tourists, but is equally suitable for locals and can be given as a present or as a corporate gift. The card also entitles you to a one-time discount of 15 percent at one of the restaurants on the card.
