Environmental protection

The unit is responsible for permit and supervision duties of the environmental protection authority and duties and expert services assigned for a campsite authority and municipal authority referred to in the Environmental Protection Act, takes care of affairs related to game and fishery management, hunting and fishing, and surveillance in accordance with hunting and fishing law in these areas.

Environmental protection is responsible for regional monitoring of air quality in five cities and other monitoring of the state of environment and natural environment in Turku. The duties of environmental protection include responsibility for guidance in Ruissalo and for the running of nature school in Ruissalo.

In addition, environmental protection is responsible for the duties of a regional waste management authority.
