History of the club parliament

  1. Many Turku based sports clubs wished for more co-operation between the Sports bodies and the sports clubs, so in the spring of 2003 the increase of such interaction was discussed.
     

  2. The Sports board introduced at Parainen city’s strategic days that the cooperation between sports clubs is important to raise as a focus area of strategic planning and that a permanent organization should be founded to co-ordinate the co-operation between the two sports parties.

     

  3. The matter progressed to Hirvensalo’s club forum and through the workshops to the point where planning of the founding of a separate club parliament begun

     

  4. The preparation for a parliament stopped momentarily as the sport’s body and board of sports considered the goals and visions of such a parliament. A negotiating team was formed between the sports body and sports clubs and they prepared the model for such a parliament.

     

  5. The model was addressed in a board meeting of the sports body and sports board led by the sports leader Arto Sinkkonen 10.2.2004.

     

  6. At the heart of the model proposal, was that the clubs would found a body of expertise to work in interaction with the sports body. It was essential that both parties would view the new parliament as a new opportunity to use and increase the co-operation between the two parties. From the view of the sports body it was welcome the clubs would get a new impact channel and the body would receive more expertise from the clubs.

     

  7. As the foundation planning for such a parliament began to progress it was decided to perceive what kinds of new goals could be set for the co-operation.

  8. 10.2.2014 The sports board accepted on its behalf the start of the sports parliament and took notice of the mission and action plan of the clubs

     

  9. 24.3.2004 the first open club forum was held, the meeting of the sports club field, in which the first parliament members were also chosen.
