Turku Science Park has gained a notable new player in the field of technology. Turku was chosen as the location for the new unit due to the world-class radio engineering talent pool as well as the specialized mobile communication industry existing in the area.

The Turku R&D Lab plans to develop Radio Frequency solutions and Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits for 5G. The lab will also conduct R&D on other growing areas of technology, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart homes.

– We are constantly looking for opportunities to expand our R&D capabilities in the field of wireless technology, where we already have long traditions and solid expertise, says Mr. Skott Ahn, Chief Technology Officer of LG Electronics.

– The expertise of the Turku unit will be paramount as we enter the era of 5G networks and the Internet of Things. We are very proud to welcome the unit in Finland as the newest addition to our R&D network.

The new R&D centre is located in the Electrocity building of Turku Science Park. LG Electronics chose Turku as the location for the new unit due to the world-class radio engineering talent pool as well as the specialized mobile communication industry existing in the area. LG is planning a long-term investment for its Turku unit.
