Europeade, the biggest folk culture event in Europe, invites a record-breaking number of participants to Turku. Are you good with languages, or do you just want to participate in this colourful event? Volunteer and help as make the best Europeade ever!

The first Finnish Europeade, the biggest folk culture event in Europe, will be organised in Turku on 26–30 July 2017. We are expecting almost 6,200 dancers, players, and singers of folk music from all European countries, as well as large audiences.

We are now looking for volunteers to build the best Europeade ever. There’s something to do for everyone: from accommodation monitoring to programme-related tasks, and from guiding tours to distributing food.

What we expect from you:

  •     a minimum age of 15
  •     a responsible attitude and initiative
  •     the ability to get along well with other people
  •     the preparedness to commit to achieving our shared goals
  •     availability on the designated dates and times and preparedness to participate in the training events to be held during the winter and spring.

Volunteers are sought for the following assignments:

  •     meal monitoring and assistance
  •     accommodation monitoring
  •     programme-related assignments
  •     guides for groups
  •     communication
  •     product sales
  •     transportation

Are you fluent in languages?

For each group, we will try to find a guide who speaks the group’s native language. We need people who speak Finnish, Swedish, English, Spanish, Flemish, Italian, Greek, Latvian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Polish, French, Romanian, German, Slovene, Danish, Czech, Hungarian, Russian, and Estonian.

How can I join?

All work is carried out on an unpaid volunteer basis. One volunteer shift usually lasts for six hours. We hope that you will be able to commit to several days. Full-time volunteers who put in at least 18 hours during the event will receive a volunteer shirt and meals during their shifts, as well as a free pass to all of the Europeade events which are subject to an entrance fee. If necessary, we can also offer accommodation at a school.

Fill in your volunteer registration form here by 15 May.

By submitting the form, you commit to participating in the volunteer training and the event, if you are chosen for the assignment. We will contact all chosen volunteers by 1 June.

Hope to see you at the info event on 3 May

The volunteer info event, organised on 3 May from 5 to 7 pm, will provide further information on the event. Volunteer trainings will be organised on Wednesday, 14 June and Monday, 24 July, from 7 to 8 pm. The location will be announced later.
