The student fair Study in Turku takes place on Thursday 31 August 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at ICT-City. The event is intended particularly for students beginning their studies and for exchange students. Come and get tips by the City of Turku for spending your spare time this autumn!

Your library card can also be your Culture Card

The Turku library card offers you not only extensive library services but also other culture services. At the Study in Turku fair, you can get yourself a library card and the Culture Card feature that can be added to it. You will have immediate access to the benefits and offers that the free Culture Card gives you!

Drama and science fiction at Turku City Theatre

Are you looking for more drama in your life, are you interested in science fiction? At the fair, you can have a look at the programme of Turku City Theatre! This autumn, performances on stage include the grand musical Viimeinen laiva with music and lyrics by Sting, the comedy-drama Paavo - lentävä turkulainen, the visual modern drama Prinsessa Hamlet with puppets, the classic Seitsemän veljestä directed by Lauri Maijala and the science fiction play Kybersielut starring Pamela Tola and Lauri Tilkanen. All performances are in Finnish, but the musical Viimeinen laiva has subtitles in English.

As a student, you can attend weekday (from Monday to Thursday) performances held on the same day for 10 euros, if there are seats available!

You can have a taste of the selection this autumn also during the Turku Day held on 17 September when the renovated theatre has open doors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Affordable access to the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra symphony concert

The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra offers students a free ticket to one of its three symphony concerts in September! The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra will be giving out coupons at the Study in Turku fair and they allow you to get a free ticket at the box office with a valid student card. The coupon is valid from 1 September to 17 September. Come and get yours!

The symphony concerts at the Turku Concert Hall in September include Autumn Sun on 7 and 8 September, True or false? on 21 September and Sorrowful song on 28 and 29 September.

The orchestra would also like to remind you that as a student, you can get a ticket for three euros for symphony concerts organised on the same day.

Soprano Reetta Haavisto will be the vocalist in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra’s Autumn Sun concert on 7 and 8 September with Leif Segerstam as the Chief Conductor.

History, art, information and stories

The Museum Centre of Turku museums and galleries offer interesting information and diverse experiences. Get to know the history of the city at Turku Castle, the Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum, the Pharmacy Museum and the Kylämäki Village in Kurala. Have a look at the flora and fauna of the entire Finland and the Turku region at the Biological Museum. Let art take you to new spheres in the galleries of the Old Great Square and Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art.

It is also worth attending the events, workshops and courses organised in the museums!

As a student, you get a discount on the entrance fees of all museums. You can enter the Kylämäki Village in Kurala and the galleries at the Old Great Square free of charge. At the fair, you will hear more about the offering of the museums!

Discover the excellent exercise opportunities in Turku

At the fair, you will also have tips regarding the excellent exercise opportunities in Turku. There are gyms, water sports opportunities, fitness tracks, nature trails, cycling paths and, during winter, skating tracks and ski trails around the city. You can also get to know Turku in an interesting way using themed maps.

Some services are free of charge, such as park gyms where you can train your muscles in fresh air. As a student, you also get a discount on chargeable services.

Students aged under 20 can try Mihi.fi exercise free of charge. This includes swimming, football, ice hockey and baseball, for instance.

Cultural exercise routes allow you to get to know Turku and improve your wellbeing.

Information and guidance point Nuorten Turku, intended for young people, is at the fair telling about the city services, diverse hobby and leisure time opportunities, events, finding a job and housing. You can ask about anything you are wondering about as a new resident and a student.

Also the house of art and activities Vimma takes part in the fair and presents the selection of courses available this autumn. At the same time, you can print and design your own badge that you can use for your student overalls, for example!
