The traditional Independence Day Gala Concert of the City of Turku features virtuoso guest cellist in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Talented young Finnish cellist Leonardo Chiodo will perform at the concert. Free entrance tickets for the two concerts will be distributed at the Turku Concert Hall on the 23rd of November from noon to 2 p.m. Two tickets for one person.

Leonardo Chiodo won the Turku XIII Cello Competition in 2018 and reached the finals of the International Paulo Cello Competition in the same year. The concert will be conducted by Ruut Kiiski, who has cooperated with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) also in the Finland’s 100th anniversary opera Die Kalewainen in Pochjola and Pauliina Isomäki’s oratorio Vuorisaarna [Sermon on the Mount].

At the beginning of the first concert, Mayor of the City of Turku, Minna Arve will give a speech for the Independence Day. The representants of the Turku Youth Council, Aisha Abudu and Veera Sellgren will make a speech at the beginning of the second concert.
