Welcome aboard!

Turku’s own Love Boat – the city ferry Föri – carries hearts from one side of the river to the other. Did you know that at least one couple has been married on Föri’s deck?

It takes about two minutes to cross the river on Föri. As a rule, it is in operation around the year, transporting people free of charge across the river between Tervahovinkatu (eastern bank) and Wechterinkuja (western bank). Föri is the official name of the ferry. The name comes either from the Swedish word ‘färja’ or from the English word ‘ferry’.

Föri was completed in 1903 and taken into use in 1904. It is Finland’s oldest vehicle used for public transport on a daily basis. Föri can accommodate up to 75 passengers at a time. Föri is a cable ferry driven by electric motors.

The love-filled work of light art on Föri is created by Valoparta.
