Turku Main Library is the most used library in the Nordic countries. It operates in two buildings: the old building was finished in 1903 and the new one in 2007.
Guided tours focusing on art, architecture, services and cultural history of the library are organized for groups. The maximum size of a group is 20 persons, and the tour takes 60 minutes.
Tours should be reserved at least one week before the desired date. Guided tours are arranged in Finnish, Swedish, and English, other languages agreed on separately.
Library Course and Culture Path
The Library Course for preschool children and the library visits for primary and secondary school students introduce the children and youth to the possibilities of the library and culture.
The Library Course is arranged in the local library if the course is offered by it. The Main Library is the local library of the City Centre area. Reservations for the Main Library can be made via the link on the right. Reservations for local libraries should be made directly by contacting the library in question.
The Story Trip and Media Trip of the primary school Culture Path are aimed at 2nd and 4th year students. For 3rd, 5th, and 6th year groups we offer historical tours at the Main Library. Reserve a library tour from the links on the right.
The secondary school Culture Path is meant for 7th and 9th year groups. For 7th year students we offer book and comic recommendations, as well as QR code orienteering during which the students acquaint themselves with the library and solve tasks with QR codes. 9th year groups can reserve a time for the Literature Info Path which offers tips for making a literature essay.
Remember to take your library card with you!
