Old Academy Building Square

The Old Academy Building Square is located in the heart of Turku’s Old Town, close to the Cathedral Square and the Old Great Square with its park. The cobbled square is surrounded by buildings of historic interest, such as the over 200-year-old building of the Royal Academy of Turku.

Public events, such as medieval tourneys, have been held in the Old Academy Building Square.

Capacity: 4,000–6,000 people, depending on the structures

Area: 5,600 m2

Rent: EUR 0–700/event (depending on the nature of the event)

The venue is suitable for: Open events, Closed events, Large events, Concerts, Concerts with a high noise level, Arts events, Markets

Transport links and parking: The venue is located near Turku city centre.

Practical considerations:

• Access to the Old Academy Building, the Court of Appeal and Åbo Akademi must be taken into consideration when organising the event. The use of the area must always be negotiated separately with the City of Turku event services team.
• The emergency access road via Hämeenkatu must not be blocked during the event.
