The purpose of the law is to enhance the ability of persons with disabilities to live and function as equal members of society.  A service plan is drawn up for each client, as needed.

The services and support provisions stipulated in the Disability Services Act include:

  • Alterations to living quarters
  • Instruments and equipment available in the person's home
  • Car-related financial assistance and instruments & equipment needed for the car
  • Personal assistant
  • Housing-related assistance
  • Assistance for adaptation
  • Transportation service for people with severe disabilities

Further information on the above-mentioned services, among others, is available from the social workers at the Service Office for People with Disabilities.  Social workers are available to answer your calls on weekdays 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM.  At that time, you can also make an appointment, if you wish.  The social workers have their own service areas based on the client's postal district.  For further information, please see Social workers service areas and Office location.
