Business economics student from Salo lands a top role
TUAS student chosen to lead Microsoft Student Partner Programme in Finland
When Microsoft Finland invites you to lead its student programme, you probably don't need to think twice. That is exactly what happened to Ville Koskinen, a business economics student from Salo, who was appointed Lead for the Microsoft Student Partner Programme in Finland in October. This worldwide educational programme is primarily aimed at improving students' career opportunities in technology. The MSP programme offers education that is not necessarily available at educational institutions.
– The role of MSP Lead is first and foremost that of a developer and visionary. Our Student Partners lead TechClubs around Finland, sharing information about the latest technologies and organising interesting events for students in upper secondary and higher education. We also have cooperation with businesses and schools, MSP Lead Ville Koskinen explains.
Information exchange between Microsoft and students
The nineteen Microsoft Student Partners operating in Finland share their knowledge with technology enthusiasts, giving them access to information that is not available at educational institutions. They are also involved in various joint activities.
– We develop TechClub activities, organise joint events and tours, visiting all major higher education institutions and other places of learning in Finland. In addition, Microsoft offers us educational opportunities in technology. The most important aspect of our work is the development of our own expertise and that of students, and bringing together students and businesses, Koskinen enthuses.
The MSP Lead has plenty of work to do. Koskinen describes his plans for the future:
TechClub in Salo
The Student Partner Programme runs in cooperation with Microsoft. Each year, a number of students who are enthusiastic about technology are selected into the programme to explore their own interests and share their knowledge with others.
Since the beginning of 2011, three TUAS students have been coordinating the Salo TechClub, acting as Student Partners for their peers at Salo. Salo TechClub was launched last summer. In mid-October, Student Partners at Salo organised a TechEvent which focused on Windows Phone. The event had two hundred attendees.
