Åbora Jokke – the river train begins operating

The Åbora Jokke river train began operating on 30 April. The city train will transport customers along the riverbank between Turku Castle and the Cathedral.

The city train routes take in many of Turku’s finest cultural attractions. The train will run daily – this side and that side of the river – until the middle of September but it can also be hired for private use. Tourists and locals are equally welcome to hop on-board and let the train take the strain.

Åbora Jokke offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy the sights of Turku and the summer in a new way. It will become a visible part of the cityscape and add to the rejuvenation of the already popular Aurajoki riverside.

The train has a locomotive and three carriages and can accommodate 48 passengers at once. Ticket prices are 4€ for adults and 2€ for children. Guided tours start at 16.30 on 25 June 6 and will take place every day except Sunday.

Please note that the train schedule is only indicative and that there will definitely be delays. The train will set off from Forum Marinum at 9.00 on weekdays and 11.00 at the weekend, and will pull into its yard at 20.00.
