The Fortuna block is one of Turku’s oldest and most complete blocks and has been formed within Aurakatu, Linnankatu, Kristiinankatu and Läntinen Rantakatu.

Fortuna is becoming a unique shopping, tourist and recreational space, providing a window into Southwest Finland’s know-how, culture and history.

The historic Fortuna block offers a summer filled with music, circus, stand-up and design.

As it did last year, Fortuna's riverside courtyard will host a variety of entertaining and diverse free events on Wednesdays until the Night of the Arts. The programme will also continue over Midsummer; Fortuna's solstice celebrations on 22 June will contain traditional Midsummer dances and the communal decorating of the juhannussalko (a pole decorated with leaves and flowers and then raised and used as the focal point for the midsummer dances). A summer of stand-up, circus, opera, jazz, designer goods sales, live music and film awaits.

The area is also home to the summer café Pesula, whose sweet and savoury delicacies can be enjoyed along with the performances. Fortuna is in the heart of Turku and is one of the oldest and most atmospheric parts of city. It is also fast developing into a unique neighborhood block of commerce, tourism and leisure.

The Fortuna development project is being realised by Turku Region Development Centre in cooperation with several partners. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund for Southwest Finland.
