Fortuna rocks on Wednesday 11 July.

The Fortuna block will ring to the sound of rock music on Wednesday when four different rock bands take the stage.

The Fortuna Rocks! event features local favourites Stanley and Antti Kokkomäki & Tammikuun Lapset; indierockers, Wiidakko; and fresh from Ruisrock, Antero Lindgren. The eventis free.

Alternative rock, folk / pop and indie rock

Stanley's melancholic alternative rock has charmed critics and crowds for years. After a period of silence, Stanley toured Europe in the spring of 2012 and released a new single "Venom (IntoxicateMe)" in June. The band is working ontheir second album,due for release later this year.

Antti Kokkomäki has collected around him a six piece orchestra called Tammikuun Lapset to play his mix of folk and pop, which complements Kokkomäki’s strong compositions by providing a widescreen sound to fill out his “big music”.

The Finnish-language Wiidakko indie rock band has released three full-length albums, the most recentbeing "Wiidakko"in 2011. The "Odessa" single from that album went on YleX’s heavy rotation playlist.

Fresh from Ruisrock, the talented Antero Lindgren has been one of Finland’s hidden gems. Lindgren's soulful and emotional interpretations can raise the hairs on the back of your neck. His debut "Mother" has even been called 2012’s best release!
