Financial assistance and grants assigned by the Cultural Board of Turku

The Cultural Board of Turku gives financial assistance and grants every year.

Categories

There are different categories for financial assistance and grants.

Groups and associations may apply for financial assistance from four different categories:

1. Financial assistance for the activities of art and cultural institutions (for those applicants who have made an agreement with the Cultural Services)

1a Financial assistance
1b Financial assistance for basic education in art (former category 5)

2. Financial assistance for the activities of cultural and art societies
3
. Financial assistance for cultural hobby activities
4. Financial assistance for projects

The difference between the financial assistances for institutions (category 1) and societies (category 2) is that professional artists’ institutions who have made an agreement with the Cultural Services fall under the category institutions (category 1a). Other societies and associations formed by professional artists within the free art form, however, fall under the category societies (category 2). Financial assistance for basic education for art (category 1b) is for those institutions and associations whose curriculum the Cultural Board of Turku has accepted and who have made an agreement with the Cultural Services.

Financial assistance for cultural hobby activities (category 3) is designated for art and cultural hobby groups and associations who produce events open for the public.

The financial assistance for projects (category 4) is a category for new and one occasion based projects, the main focus is set on professional artists.

Individual grants can be applied from two different categories:

6. The art grants
7. The Aboa grant.

The art grants (category 6) are grants designated for professional artists residing in Turku. The Aboa grant (category 7) is a one-year working grant (19 444,88 € for the year 2013) which can be applied for by professional artists in all art fields residing in Turku.

The application period  for financial assistance and grants for the year 2013 has closed.
