There are various opportunities that are available in case you don't have a student place or a job.
 

Performing non-military service with the city

The City of Turku will employ those performing non-military service in various jobs.  You can inquire about available jobs directly from bureaus and offices. Non-military service locations can also be found via the service location search on the Lapinjärven koulutuskeskus (Lapinjärvi Training Centre) website.

Apprenticeship with the city

The city uses apprenticeship (oppisopimus) training primarily to train its own personnel.  It is possible, however, to apply for apprenticeship training, even if you're not employed by the city.  Each department and work unit makes its own decisions regarding apprenticeships.

You may inquire about apprenticeships directly from the bureau, which handles the matters regarding the occupation you wish to study for.  The contract will be between the employee, employer, and the apprenticeship office.
