Popular exhibition opens again

Fire breaks out again in Logomo!

Walk through a gate of fire, experience making fire, sit down for a moment by the old fire engine and become acquainted with how a blacksmith works. See old Turku depicted in a scale model and – with the aid of special effects – learn how the Great Fire of Turku in 1827 spread throughout the city.

The exhibition is complemented by a private collection of matchboxes. There are 260 matchboxes on display in Logomo, and they are presented according to theme: Matches Made in Finland; advertising;  Turku; and Sampo.

Free guided tours on Saturday

Visitors can take a guided tour which includes a reconstruction of Tiirikkalankuja before it was destroyed in the Great Fire of Turku. It will also acquaint you with the mystical qualities of fire. The free guided tour is in Finnish and is available on Saturdays at 2pm.

Guided tours of the exhibition can be arranged for groups. and include the playful Burn Out? tour, which is especially appropriate for those in search of work-related physical rehabilitation activities. For more information about Logomo’s guided tours, tel 040 553 5860.
