General instructions for social and health care professionals

  • The booster dose is given with the same vaccine. Instructions for AstraZeneca are coming.
  • The interval between vaccinations is 12 weeks.
  • Take a message/ communication from your supervisor to the vaccination, such as an email about the work you will be performing. This will allow you to show that you are eligible for vaccination. 

Social and health care professionals performing work concerning coronavirus

  • In Turku, social and health care professionals performing work concerning coronavirus have received their 1st dose of vaccine. Booster vaccines have also been given.
  • Vaccinations are still given whenever a new person starts work. Before starting work (preferably 3-4 weeks before starting work), contact the Turku COVID-19 vaccination helpline, tel. 02 266 0159 (Mon-Fri 8-14)

Employees of housing and institutional care activities for the elderly

  • Employees of housing and institutional care activities for the elderly have received their 1st dose of vaccine. Vaccinations have been given to those working in both the city’s own units and private care units. Booster vaccines have also been given.
  •  As a new employee you will receive the vaccine from your own health center, ie., your municipality of residence or the health center of your choice, and in Turku, contact the COVID-19 vaccination helpline 

Employees of other health care and social work units 

  • Vaccinations of employees have been suspended in accordance with national guidelines. Vaccinations will be resumed as soon as national guidelines for the continuation of vaccinations become available.

Home care workers

  • Vaccinations of home care workers have been suspended in accordance with national guidelines. Vaccinations will be resumed as soon as national guidelines for the continuation of vaccinations become available. 

Social and health care student who is about to start an on-the-job training period

  • As a social and health care student, you are entitled to coronavirus vaccination if you are starting a long on-the-job training period in a unit that is considered to be the first to receive vaccinations (institutional care for the elderly, care for coronavirus patients).
  • If you do not know whether you are entitled to coronavirus vaccination, you can contact the Turku COVID-19 vaccination helpline, tel. 02 266 0159 (Mon-Fri 8-14)
  • The vaccine is given in the municipality where you live or have chosen a health center.
