Regional museum of Southwest Finland

Aura, Kaarina, Kemiönsaari, Koski Tl, Kustavi, Lieto, Laitila, Loimaa, Marttila, Masku, Mynämäki, Naantali, Nousiainen, Oripää, Paimio, Parainen, Pyhäranta, Pöytyä, Raisio, Rusko, Salo, Sauvo, Somero, Taivassalo, Turku, Uusikaupunki and Vehmaa.

The Museum Centre of Turku is also the Regional Museum of Southwest Finland. The main role of the Regional Museum is to provide information about local cultural heritage and to offer expert services to local museums as well as to authorities and private citizens.

The Regional Museum of Southwest Finland advices local actors on museum and cultural heritage work. Additionally, the Regional Museum researches, documents and inventories cultural environments, built heritage and archaeological heritage. Finally, it gives counsel on the management and repair of buildings and the cultural environment.

The cultural heritage work in Southwest Finland is done in cooperation with the National Board of Antiquities. A four-year plan (2014-2017) works as the framework for the cooperation. The Regional Museum and the National Board of Antiquities have agreed that the former will be the antiquarian expert and give statements in matters concerning the zoning of cities in Southwest Finland.
