Turku is hoping to acquire surprising pop-up art from artists to liven up the city
The City of Turku’s call for entries in the Pop-up Art Programme invites professional artists and art communities to come up with proposals for diverse art projects for different parts of the city. Applications will be accepted from 8 February to 4 March 2024.

A stately public urban space located in the Linnanniemi area in Turku will be named in honour of President Mauno Koivisto. Linnanniemi is a new neighbourhood being planned in the vicinity of the Turku Castle and the harbour, near the River Aura and the sea.

The Path of Light glows and charms visitors in Turku from 3 to 6 December
This year’s light event in Turku will be bigger and more international than last year. The spectacular works of light art will be located near the River Aura. They will draw on the maritime nature of the city and take advantage of the open landscape along the riverbed and views opening up from different directions.

The main goal is to make Turku Old Town an internationally and locally well-known, interesting coherent entity.

Take a tour of the Old Town
You can now get to know the area of the Old Town and its history with the help of the Citynomadi route, which works online and in a mobile application. The changing Old Town route leads you in the vicinity of the Old Great Square, in the University area and on Piispankatu. It presents with pictures and texts the places of interest in the area and its history, and to a lesser extent also the future. Children’s artwork in the Piispankatu winter square
The transformer station in the Svante Dahlström parkette has been decorated with animal-themed artwork made by children. Children from three of the nearby day cares worked on the pieces. Supersankarit talviaukiolla (Superheroes in the winter square) is on exhibit from 17 February to 12 March.
