Laboratory and X-Ray

Additional information – Hospital District of Southwest Finland

The laboratory and imaging services of Turku City Welfare Division are produced by the Hospital District of Southwest Finland.

As a rule, you should always book an appointment for laboratory sampling. Samples are taken without appointments on emergency situations, and samples taken at home can also be brought in without appointments. A laboratory appointment may be booked online or by phone on weekdays between 7.00 and 14.30 at +358 (0)2 313 6321 (local call rates apply).

On Fridays and on the eves of public holidays samples should be taken before 12.30 so that there is enough time to react in case of abnormal results.

The imaging services of the City of Turku Welfare Division, such as x-ray and ultrasound examinations, are provided by the Medical Imaging Centre of Southwest Finland which serves the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. All examinations are by appointment only. An appointment is usually booked at a doctor’s practice, outpatient clinic or ward at the same time when a referral is made.

You will get instructions for preparing for examinations at a practice, outpatient clinic or ward. You can also get information about examinations on the Hospital District of Southwest Finland information bank.
