The animal shelter in Turku takes in pets that no longer have an owner and that have been taken into custody by the authorities. The shelter sees to the temporary care of such pets and also treats injured and starving wild animals.

Opening hours of the animal shelter:

  • Mon–Fri 8.00–18.00
  • Sat–Sun and on holidays 08.00–17.00

If your pet disappears or you find a runaway pet, contact the animal shelter or the police. If you suspect that an animal is being treated badly, contact the supervising veterinarian, tel. +358 (0)44 907 3854.

Price list of the animal shelter

Municipalities have the right to charge a fee from the owner or holder of the animal for collecting, treating and possibly putting down the animal. The owner can retrieve their pet after paying the treatment fee unless there are impediments related to animal welfare. If the pet is not retrieved from the shelter within 15 days, it can be given to a new owner or it can be put down.

Fees (including VAT 24%):

  • dogs 20,40 €/day
  • cats 13,60 €/day
  • other small animals 10,20 €/day

Kaarina, Kustavi, Lieto, Masku, Naantali, Nousiainen, Paimio, Parainen, Raisio, Rusko, Sauvo, Taivassalo ja Vehmaa.
