Sales Points and Opening Hours

Towards Richer Culinary Culture and International Ambiance

Traditional public market continues at the Market Square also in the future – and during the construction work. As before, it is worth coming to the Market Square to have a cup of coffee, to buy some vegetables, or to visit the Christmas village, for example.

Fresh fruit, vegetables and exuberant floral bouquets attract the passers-by to the Market Square. The wide range of quality products also includes fresh fish, bakery products, clothes and handicrafts. You can drop by the Market Square to do some shopping, to have a cup of coffee or just to feel the vivid atmosphere.

What Will the Turku Market Square Offer You in the Future?

The Market Square is a popular venue for business meetings and casual gatherings, but we need to get fresh stimulus to be able to offer versatile and high-class services also in the future. The aim of the renovation of the Market Square is to enliven the city centre, to improve comfort, to increase trade in the area, and to create completely new opportunities for using public spaces.

A well-planned market square serves the local culinary culture. The successful renovation of the Turku Market Hall, which was completed in 2013, serves as an example. We want to have a European café atmosphere and enjoy versatile culinary culture at the Market Square. Therefore, the new phenomena, such as Restaurant Day events, would have their venue in the most central location of the city.

The sales points of the Market Square will be relocated, and they will be grouped according to a new system along the new walking routes. With these renovations, the conditions of the sales facilities of the public market and the cafeterias will raise to a new level when the refrigeration and storage facilities as well as waste storage will be placed underneath the deck of the market place. Also, the market buildings will be renovated. They will include service points, showrooms, pop-up shops, cafés, snack stalls, restaurants and public spaces.
