The programme of the oldest music festival that has been organised in Finland annually includes Baroque arias, Brahms and more modern chamber music. This year, Turku music festival is organised for the 58th time.

The varied programme organised between 9 August and 19 August will cover over 30 concerts and events. The performers include, among others,  Karita Mattila (soprano), Matti Salminen (bass), Waltteri Torikka (baritone), Klaus Florian Vogt (tenor), Lisa Batiashvili (violinist), Paavo Järvi (conductor), Sonya Yoncheva (soprano), Jaakko Ryhänen (bass), Iiro Rantala (pianist), Antti Reini (actor) and the Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble from Stockholm, Sweden.

The person in charge of the programme is, for the second time, Artistic Director Ville Matvejeff. He is known as a conductor, composer and pianist. The theme selected by Matvejeff for the summer festival revolves around mysticism and colours. Finland's centenary celebration and the anniversary of the Reformation have also been taken into consideration in the programme.

One of the highlights of the festival is the opera Parsifal by Richard Wagner as a lightly shortened version. Parsifal celebrates the anniversary of the Reformation and both the Reformation and the religious diversity in Turku can be seen in concert venue choices:  there are concerts taking place at the Turku Cathedral, at Michael's church, at the Catholic Church and at the Turku Synagogue.
