On Sunday 2 September, H.R.H the Crown Prince of Denmark underwent a back operation. For physical rehabilitation, the Crown Prince’s official activities over the next weeks have been cancelled. However, H.R.H the Crown Princess will participate in his place in the visit to Finland 13-14 September 2018. No major changes to the programme is expected as a result of this change.
Denmark officially recognized the independence of Finland 100 years ago, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 18 February 1918. The Crown Princess will honour this historic event during her official visit to Finland. The purpose of the visit is also to draw attention to three areas of trade and export relations between Denmark and Finland: Urban Solutions, New Nordic Food and Maritime Industry, taking place at a number of events and site visits in Helsinki and Turku.

HRH the Crown Princess is still accompanied by Danish Minister for Environment and Food, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, and representatives from more than 30 Danish companies presenting their know-how and supply to the Finnish companies and public and private communities. Denmark exported approximately EUR 1.6 billion worth of products and services to Finland in the past year.

The official programme of the visit begins on 13 September at the Helsinki City Hall with a seminar on Urban Solutions. HRH the Crown Princess is welcomed by the Mayor of Helsinki, Jan Vapaavuori, Deputy Mayor, Anni Sinnemäki, and the Group Executive Director of Danish Consulting Engineers Ramboll Finland, Markku Moilanen. HRH the Crown Princess has lunch with the Chairman of the Parliament, Paula Risikko at the House of Parliament and visits the headquarters of Stora Enso. HRH the Crown Princess takes part in a stakeholder event on New Nordic Food at the residence of the Danish Ambassador and visits ‘Our Urban Livingroom’ exhibition where she is welcomed by Eik Bjerregaard, the Project Director and architect of the Danish community of architects, COBE. On Thursday night, HRH participates in an Official Dinner at Finlandia Hall.

On Friday, 14 September, the Crown Princess continues to Turku to visit the Meyer Turku Shipyard accompanied by the Managing Director of the Meyer Turku, Jan Meyer. After this, the Crown Princess visits the Forum Marinum Center with the Mayor of Turku, Minna Arve.
