With a compelling alumni panel discussion and keynote speeches from international professionals currently working in Finland, this online career event gives students an insight into the possibilities Turku and Finland have to offer for international talents.

Study and Stay in Turku was first introduced last year as a face-to-face networking event. This year, the event takes place online, on Monday 2 November at 16.30-18.00. The online format is not only safe during the Coronavirus pandemic, but also makes it possible for people living outside Turku and Finland to join and learn more about the educational and career options in this region.

Study and Stay in Turku is organised by the higher education institutes in the Turku area together with Study in Turku and Turku Business Region. The goal of the event is to get international students to choose Turku as their study destination and also stay and build their career in Finland after graduation.

A Programme designed to inform and inspire

In addition to a Turku alumni panel discussion, the event programme will include two keynote speeches from international talents who have made their careers in Finland:

Kamilla Sultanova, a public speaker specialising in diversity and inclusion, talks about the power of communities in building a career path in Finland. She will share practical tips for how to turn a city into a community, spot opportunities, embrace multiple identities and build new meaningful connections while stuck at home.

The other keynote speaker is Juan Fernandez Castellano – a talent-sourcing expert with hands-on experience in recruiting, interviewing and evaluating candidates. He will share his personal story and give experience-based advice on how to stand out as a job seeker in the Finnish labour market.

During the event, participants will learn about networking, creating a career in Finland and succeeding in job searching. By hearing the experiences of other international talents who have graduated from Finnish universities, the event aims to encourage and inspire students to build their own career in the Turku area.
