In comprehensive schools in Turku, the spring term begins on Thursday 7 January 2021. Teaching starts as contact teaching but will be replaced with distance teaching if necessary. The same operating model that was used during autumn term will also be used in the spring. Guardians and pupils will be informed about potential changes via Wilma.
Upper secondary schools
The spring term in upper secondary schools in Turku begins on Thursday 7 January 2021 and a hybrid model is used in teaching. In the hybrid model, graduating students (candidates for the matriculation examination) are mainly in contact teaching. Alternation between other groups is solved separately for each school. Upper secondary school students will be notified about changes via Wilma.
Adult education centres
Spring term in the Finnish Adult Education Centre of Turku and Åbo svenska arbetarinstitut begins on 1 February and the term can continue until the end of May.
Turku Vocational Institute
The spring term of Turku Vocational Institute begins on Monday 4 January 2021 and a hybrid model is used in teaching. Fields of education have made field-specific plans for teaching in spring term. Workplace-based learning continues as planned. Educational units will inform students about arrangements via Wilma.
The celebrations of penkkarit for graduating students and the ball of the new seniors
The costumed celebrations and parade of penkkarit for graduating students in February cannot be organised because of the difficult coronavirus situation. The ball of the new seniors is postponed until Wednesday 12 May 2021, as the coronavirus situation can be expected to improve by then.
