According to the new policy lines of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, it is recommended that pupils in grade 6 wear a mask from now on. The City of Turku Education Division will extend the recommendation to wear a mask to cover all pupils in grade 6 in City of Turku schools. The recommendation comes into force immediately.

Recommendations concerning face masks in the City of Turku Education Division will extend to cover lower comprehensive school pupils in grades 4 to 6 in the areas of Varissuo and Lauste from 7 January onwards

The City of Turku Education Division extends the recommendations on using face masks to cover lower comprehensive school pupils in grades 4 to 6 in Lausteen koulu, Nummenpakan koulu, Turku International School, Turun normaalikoulu and Varissuon koulu. The recommendation will come into force on 7 January 2021. For the time being, the recommendation does not apply to other City of Turku lower comprehensive schools.
 
The pupils will be provided masks by their own school but can also wear their own masks instead if they wish.

Spring Term began in the City of Turku Education Division

All day care units are open. Teaching in spring term 2021 in City of Turku schools began with contact teaching 7 January. Educational institutions (e.g. Turku Vocational School) began in hybrid model with contact and distance teaching. If possible, teaching will continue in this form until the winter break beginning on 19 February 2021. Spring term in the Finnish Adult Education Centre of Turku and Åbo svenska arbetarinstitut begins on 1 February.
