Third dose is given to enhance and extend the protection provided by the two doses in people whose vaccinations have been administered a long time ago and who have received their vaccines at a dose interval of no more than six weeks, which is shorter than the current dose interval. This group includes healthcare personnel who work in the first line caring for coronavirus patients and collecting samples. The group also includes, among others, elderly patients of care homes and the personnel caring for them.
However, as a precaution while the vaccinations are being rolled out, a third dose will not yet be given to men aged under 30. THL is waiting for more research data on the risk of myocarditis, a rare inflammation of the heart muscle, in those who have received the third vaccine dose.
Third coronavirus vaccinations to be administered to Turku residents at the Satakunnantie vaccination point
You can book an appointment for the vaccination through the Health Care E-Service (turku.fi/eterveyspalvelu) by reserving a second vaccination appointment in the service. You can also book an appointment via the coronavirus vaccination helpline, tel. +358 (0)2 266 0159 (Mon–Fri 8–14). You cannot book an appointment for the third coronavirus vaccine dose on the Otanrokotteen.turku.fi website.
You can also get the third coronavirus vaccine dose at the Satakunnantie vaccination point (Satakunnantie 105) without an appointment on any working day (between 8.45 and 15.15). Be prepared to queue for the vaccination at the vaccination point. For each person to be vaccinated, it is verified that the person has received the vaccines at a dose interval of no more than six weeks and that six months have passed since the previous vaccine.
Only people registered or resident in Turku can receive vaccinations at the Satakunnantie vaccination point. Residents of nearby municipalities who work in Turku will get the third vaccine in their home municipality or in occupational healthcare.
