The future of Finland and Europe will be on the table again at this year’s Europe Forum in Turku from 30 August to 1 September. Now that the pandemic has subsided, the event returns closer to citizens and encourages everyone to join in open discussion. This year’s theme of the Europe Forum is A Changing Europe.

Themed A Changing Europe, the Forum intends to stimulate public debate on the forces of change that are shaking Europe. Safety and security in Europe are at risk as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues. At the same time, the green transition requires the Member States to be able to make new investments while adapting to reduced emissions.

– This year we are preparing for both the presidential and the European elections, where citizens expect answers to these challenges. Finland’s policies on Europe with our new government and our foreign relations with our new membership in Nato are both topical themes, says Matti Niemi, Chair of the Europe Forum Turku association.

The forum will feature the top names of politics as well as leading experts of science, economy and politics.

– The Europe Forum is an important venue for decision-makers working nationally or locally in Turku to discuss current European and foreign policy issues and Finland’s position as part of Europe. We at the City of Turku have a high regard for our role as facilitators of this conversation, which also allows us to offer a city perspective to the discussion, says Mayor of Turku Minna Arve.
