Hospital District of Southwest Finland

The Hospital District of Southwest Finland produces demanding specialized health care services. The services are arranged with the services produced by Turku itself into appropriate wholes of treatment and care.

According to the 2015 service plan, Turku will buy approx. 275.000 outpatient clinic visits and approx. 20.000 periods of ward care. 184 million euros have been budgeted for the purchases.

The Hospital District is, in co-operation with the University of Turku, also responsible for the basic and specialization education of doctors.

The Hospital District also produces high quality medical research.

The Hospital District function of the Welfare Division is managed by specialist doctor Hilkka Virtanen.
