A disabled child or a child with special educational needs has the right to get the interpretation and assistance services, other educational services and special aids he or she needs free of charge in order to participate in the education. (Section 31 of the Basic Education Act) The assistance services needed by the schools are decided upon a request from the schools each year.
On schooldays the student gets a warm meal between 10.00 and 12.00. The meal covers approximately one third of a person’s daily food requirements.

A student will be offered a special diet if the reason is medical, religious or ethical.
This year’s New Year’s celebration at the Cathedral Square in Turku will be particularly joyous, as the event will also usher in the centenary of Finland’s independence. The Adventure Park theatre stages a wide variety of high-quality performances aimed at children and families all year round. Ticket reservations can be made on the website. The theatre programme includes plays, circus and magic acts, dance and children's music concerts.

The age recommendations are suggestive. Free admission for children under 1 year of age, except for performances aimed specifically at this age group.
The Adventure Park area is always open and free of charge. The park has a large number of swings, climbing structures and other playground equipment, which can also be used outside normal park hours.
Adventure Park is located on the outer edge of the expansive Kupittaa Park, close to the Kupittaa railway station. It is roughly two kilometres from the Market Square.
The Children’s Culture Centre Adventure Park supports children’s cultural rights by offering versatile art-and culture activities for children and youths, families, as well as schools and early childhood education, all year round. The Adventure Park was founded in 1982 and is a part of the national network of children's culture centres in Finland. A school bus card is granted in the following cases:
- The distance between the home of a student in years 1–9 and the nearest local school is over 5km.
- The distance between the home of a 10th year student resident in Turku and the nearest local school is over 5km.
The distance between home and school is measured from the yard of the student’s home to the yard of the school via the shortest road that is suitable for pedestrians and is in public use.
What is a fee decision (“maksupäätös”)?
Day care fees are determined according to size of the family, income, and the length of the day spent in day care, as agreed upon in the care agreement. The fee decision is a notification about the amount of the child’s day care fee; it is not an invoice. The fee decision will be mailed to your home before the actual invoice, and the invoice will be mailed to your home later as per the fee decision.
New city plans result in the formation of new single-family plots, which are assigned to customers based on application and competitive bidding rounds. The time of assignment is dependent on several factors, including the planning situation of the area and the construction schedule of municipal infrastructure. Sometimes plots are also included in an application or competitive bidding round as a result of cancelled assignments.
There are 150 playgrounds in the parks of Turku. The playgrounds are maintained and the condition of the playground equipment is being followed regularly. Some playgrounds offer instructed activities for children.

The playgrounds are inspected approximately once every three months. The inspection includes checking the safety and condition of the playground equipment. The basis of the standards concerning playground equipment is to prevent accidents and damages.
