Activities for children aged 1.5–6 are organized at playgrounds on weekdays between 9.00 and 12.30.
To let your child play safely outdoors together with other children supervised by the playground attendants, please enroll by contacting the day care workers of the playground directly. Also please note that there will be no playground activities if temperature is -12 degrees Celsius or below.
Turku has four campgrounds for youth: Ahtela in Sauvo, Tippsund in Taivassalo, Vienola in Rymättylä and Nukkumajoki in Inari.
Affordable areas with cabins, available for rent for:
- youth organizations
- private persons
- trip and camp activities of the city
The campgrounds are ideal for larger groups and events, but they are also suited for small groups. The campgrounds can also be rented just for day use.
Apart from the Main Library, Turku has 10 branch libraries, one service point in the Skanssi shopping centre, and two mobile libraries. Aunela, Hirvensalo, Ilpoinen, Nummi, Paattinen, Vasaramäki and Yli-Maaria libraries are self-service libraries that may be used independently with a library card and the attached pincode. These can be obtained at any Vaski library.
In winter, ski trails are made throughout Turku. The number of ski trails depends on how much snow there is. If there is little snow, skiing is only possible in the Nunnavuori area in Impivaara. If there is a lot of snow, ski trails are made throughout the region.
