Ruissalo Info offers information and guidance on the nature, cultural history and recreational use of Ruissalo. The info has maps and brochures, among other things.
Public transport in Turku has been organised regionally across six municipalities. Up-to-date information about routes, timetables, prices and ticket types can be found on the website of Föli, the region’s public transport system.
The manufacturing and serving of food and foodstuffs is supervised in, for example, restaurants. This supervision ensures that the foodstuffs are healthy and safe to consume. The handling, transport, trading, import, export and marketing of foodstuffs are also supervised. The food industry operator is also responsible for carrying out in-house control. Those who plan to open a restaurant should contact Food Control ahead of time. The notification about opening a restaurant must be sent at least one month in advance.

In Turku, the property owner is responsible for arranging the transportation of waste. Each property owner must make an agreement with a waste transportation company. In the case of apartment buildings, terraced houses and other types of corporate housing, the housing company usually arranges this transportation. Those living in detached houses must take care of the arrangements for waste transportation themselves.
TVT Asunnot Oy, a real estate company owned by the City of Turku, has over 11 000 apartments throughout Turku. Information about the apartments, application process and contact details can be found on TVT’s website. Information about other rental service agencies can be found on the city’s website.

One of the tasks of the Environmental Protection is the preparation of permits for soil management, hunting, motocross, and camping. In addition, the tasks include the management and upkeep of conservation areas and nature trails. Nature education is practised by organizing public excursions and through the lessons given at the Nature School located in Ruissalo.
Hunting clubs can apply for hunting licenses to the territories owned by the City from the Environmental Protection. The licenses are granted for terms of four years. The Urban Planning and Environmental Committee has decided that the hunting licenses are only granted to hunting clubs.
The Environmental Protection is responsible for the game management and hunting supervision in the territories owned by the City.
The environmental protection authorities of the municipality supervise the Waste Management Act and its accompanying local ordinances in the municipality.
Turku Environmental Protection supervises the waste management of companies, institutions and real estates and the cleanliness of their surroundings. Supervision is executed through organized inspections of companies and inspections based on hints from inhabitants of the municipality.
The Environmental Protection Departmant reports information about the city's fishing waters, fishing warrants, fishing licences, the maintenance of fishing waters and fishing supervision.
You can buy fishing and net fishing licences for the city's fishing waters from the Customer Service of the Environmental Division (Puolalankatu 5, 2nd floor). The Aura River Information Centre sells fishing licences for the Aura River. Urban Planning and Environmental Committee processes the licence applications of commercial fishers for the fishing waters owned by the city.
