Brush glazing
It's time to try something new! We have new brush glaziers, which you can try out at our brush glazing nights. During the workshop, the old familiar immersion glazes will also be available for your use.
During the brush glazing sessions, you can glaze work done in the open workshop. The work must be raw fired, so it must be done at least three weeks in advance.
Now It is the Time of the Turku Market Square
Finland’s oldest culture city will be soon 800 years old. The best is still in front of us.
Turku is proud of its venues in which it has allocated resources. Now it is the turn of the Market Square. The living city centre will be a home arena for pedestrians and cyclists. This demands a series of reforms which are linked to each other, and which will serve the needs of all the users of the city centre.
Everything that you have always wanted to know about the New Turku Market Square.
Why Will the Turku Market Square Be Renovated?
We will renovate the Market Square in order to offer a cosy and a living meeting place in the heart of the city centre for everybody.
What Is the City Centre of Your Dreams Like?
Do you want to have a city centre that is completely dedicated for walking? Do you want to have a safe city centre for cycling? How about having a living city centre for the culture? Do you want to have a versatile shopping centre in the city centre? These wishes could come true only if the underground parking facility of the Market Square will be built.
Finland’s Best City Centre for Walking and Cycling
We want to transfer the city centre of Turku to Finland’s best for cyclists and pedestrians. When the cars will be redirected underground, they will make space to a modern and convenient city centre for the people. There will be safe and continuous bicycle roads when the cars will be redirected further away from the Market Square. In addition, there will be plenty of space reserved for the parking of the bicycles.
The street areas surrounding the Turku Market Square and the bus stops in the square have been completed for public transport. As a result, some of the stops returned to the Aurakatu and Eerikinkatu areas around the Market Square in the end of October 2022.
Three stops in the centre will remain on Linnankatu and one pair of stops will remain on Aurakatu at the City Hall park.

Enjoy your free time in terrace cafes. Watch kids having fun in the playground. Park the car conveniently underground. This is what the new Turku Market Square is made of – and a lot more!

The first public urban parks were built in the 19th century with comfort, recreation, and merry-making in mind. One of the oldest parks in Turku is Brahenpuisto, which is located next to Turku Cathedral. The first ‘horti’ were created in the area already in the latter half of the 16th century. Planting of the park started after the Great Fire of Turku in 1833, and Brahenpuisto was renovated and expanded in 1886-1888. The park got its characteristic monument, the statue of Per Brahe by sculptor Walter Runeberg, in 1888.
