Do I need a permit for my advertisement?
If you want to place an advertisement on a land area that is owned by the City of Turku, you will need a permit from the city.
Permits for permanent advertisements
Permanent advertisements on city-owned land also require building and siting permits. These spots are rented for 5–10 years depending on the contract. The rent depends on the size of the advertisement. Apply for a permit with a free-form application that includes the following information:
Parking a motorcycle
The rules for parking with a motorcycle are principally the same as for cars. In parking spaces that are subject to a charge, the paid parking slip must be attached to the motorcycle. If there are more than one motorcycles in a parking space that is subject to a charge, all motorcycles must have their own parking slips. It is good to take a photo of the parking slip, so you can prove that you paid in case the slip is lost. There is no need to use the parking disk, but the same parking time limits are still valid.
The purpose of the enterprise parking permit is to ease the parking needs of companies operating in the City of Turku area. With an enterprise parking permit, the holder may park the vehicle covered by the permit in the permit parking area. Permit parking spaces are designated separately by traffic signs to apply to certain street sections. The permit holder may park in a paid space without paying a separate parking fee and in a time-limited space without restrictions and without indicating the arrival time. Enterprise parking is in use in eight permit areas A-H in Turku.
A holder of a disabled parking permit is allowed to park in the following places:
- separately marked disabled parking spaces
- parking prohibition areas
- parking spaces that are subject to a fee; no need to pay
- parking spaces that have a time limit; no time limit
Please note! The vehicle must not disturb the traffic.
The Road Traffic Act includes many other prohibitions and restrictions when the disabled parking permit does not entitle parking.
City plan areas
It is not permitted to work on the streets and other public areas within the city plan without a permit from the city. In this case an appropriate permit for the work must be acquired (permits for fences, digs, and/or siting).
Permits for areas outside the city plan
If the activity in question falls outside the public right of access, a permit from the landowner is needed for work in an area (such as a forest or field).
Private roads are roads that are maintained by property owners and other stakeholders of the road. The road stakeholders are responsible for participating in the building and maintenance of the road according to the benefits it provides for each stakeholder. The stakeholders of the road can organize and form a road maintenance association if there are several stakeholders and/or if the road maintenance based on the principle of consensus becomes difficult.
Business Plots
The City of Turku has plots available and suitable for business premises. The plots are mainly located in the precincts of Ohikulkutie (Turku bypass), Tampereentie, and the airport. The plots can be either leased or purchased. A building obligation will be put on the plot. The locations and prices of plots that are ready to be assigned can be found through the Turku City Map Service.
New city plans result in the formation of new single-family plots, which are assigned to customers based on application and competitive bidding rounds. The time of assignment is dependent on several factors, including the planning situation of the area and the construction schedule of municipal infrastructure. Sometimes plots are also included in an application or competitive bidding round as a result of cancelled assignments.
Plots in the City of Turku meant for corporate residential use are primarily assigned through rounds of tenders held annually in spring. The objectives of the city are that the plots would get into use quickly, the planning and construction would be high-quality, and that the housing solutions would be adaptable and innovative.
The plots that were not assigned during the rounds of tenders are available and open or offers through the online map service.
What are single-family plots that can be assigned immediately?
Single-family plots that can be assigned immediately can be applied for around the year. The list of plots available for immediate assignment is complemented on the first day of every month with plots that were not assigned during the previous month and plots that were withdrawn.
