IT Services provides the City of Turku with high-quality and cost-efficient IT solutions.
The service centre’s services cover telecommunications, devices and printing services, applications and integration platforms, licenses and data security. In addition to these, IT Services coordinates the City’s IT procurement in collaboration with the Strategic Procurement unit.
Turku Science Park Ltd – Innovate to Accelerate
Turku Science Park joins academic and business experts together. Spanning five square kilometres with-in a walking distance from the city centre, the Science Park area is a knowledge intensive hub of universi-ties, high tech companies and service providers.
The Turku region benefits from an excellent strategic position in relation to markets in Scandinavia, northern Europe, Russia and China. Turku forms part of some of northern Europe’s most important transport routes, including the Nordic triangle transport axis, connecting the Nordic capitals and St Petersburg.

University of Turku – Science for Well-being in the Baltic Sea Region
The University of Turku has always had an active role in the research and cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. The University of Turku is a founding member of the Baltic Sea Region University Network (BSRUN) as well as of the Centrum Balticum Foundation and Centre located in Turku.
Protection Fund for the Archipelago Sea – Funding Action for a Healthier Sea
The Protection Fund funds water protection projects on the Finnish Archipelago Sea and its catchment area. The Fund operates under the umbrella of the Centrum Balticum Foundation.
With the aim of stopping eutrophication and improving the quality of the Archipelago Sea’s water areas, project objectives include lessening the nutrient burden running into sea and raising water protection awareness.
Centrum Balticum – Making the Most of the Baltic Sea Region
Centrum Balticum is a prominent voice for the whole Baltic Sea Region. It accelerates the birth of ideas, acts as an information unit and coordinates a network of researchers and experts. In cooperation with its stakeholders, Centrum Balticum generates ideas for policy-making and sets public debate in motion.
Action for the Baltic Sea Region
Located at the crossroads of the Baltic Sea where shipbuilding, the harbour and international trade have shaped the way of life, Turku has always been an international city.
Turku is especially active in the Baltic Sea cooperation, partly due to its history as the former capital of Finland and gateway to the world. Today, Turku is the home of Finland’s maritime cluster, where the biggest, most luxurious and environmentally advanced cruise ships sailing the oceans are designed and built.
The personal assistant grant is meant to support and encourage clubs and associations to include persons of special needs, young and old alike, in their activities.
Application period
Applications are processed once a year.

Conditions of eligibility
The grant can be applied for by sports and exercise clubs as well as associations that organize sports and exercise as long as they are based in Turku.
Nuori Suomi ry (the present Olympiakomitea ry) developed the Sinettiseura emblem, a quality standard for sports and exercise clubs and associations, in the beginning of 1990s. A club’s activities must meet 12 different criteria in order to receive the Sinettiseura emblem. The aim is to receive two new Sinettiseura members from Turku each year.
The acknowledgement/grant is given to clubs and associations that receive the Sinettiseura emblem during the current year.
The grant supports sports and exercise clubs' regular hobby, training and competing activity.
Application period
The application period will open again at the end of April 16.–30.4.2018 for those who haven’t applied for an Operational grant for a sport club by 28.2.2018.
Conditions of eligibility
The grant can be applied for by Turku -based sports and exercise clubs
The grant is meant to support young athletes or teams that have succeeded well nationally or internationally during the year.
Application period
Deadline: 15th of November
If the application is based on success that has been accomplished after the deadline but before the end of the year, i.e. between 16 November and 31 December, the application must be submitted on 31 December.
The grant is meant to support regular sports and exercise organized by associations for disabled persons, chronically diseased persons, pensioners, or immigrants.
Application period
Application period will open again on 16.–30.4.2018 concerning those who haven’t applied for Operational Grant for Other Activities of Associations by 28.2.2018.
The grant is meant to support the organizing sport events in Turku. The special focus is on events meant for children and youth, as well as events large enough to be classified as public events. No training camps or training events.
Target group
Turku -based sports and exercise clubs as well as associations that organize sports and exercise.
Application period
At the latest 31th of October.

This grant is meant to support the training of coaches, instructors and clerical workers at home and abroad. The grant is for sports and exercise clubs, special groups, and associations of pensioners or immigrants that organize sports or exercise.

This grant supports the making of new orienteering maps or updating of old ones.

This grant can be applied for by all Turku-based sports and exercise clubs.

This grant is meant to support the building of sports or exercise facilities, as well as expansion projects and small scale renovations. The aim of this grant is to get new exercise facilities for the residents of Turku and to encourage sports and exercise clubs to create good conditions for residents of Turku to train and compete.

Grant can be applied consistently, but at the latest 31st of October
Conditions of eligibility
This grant can be applied for by all Turku-based sports and exercise clubs.
Clubs and organizations mainly use facilities that are owned and maintained by the city. The grant is meant to support clubs and organizations with their rent if they use other facilities that are not owned by the city, with some limitations and exceptions.
A reserved appropriation includes the support given to the water sports and swimming activities of disability organizations.

What is the Youth Council’s Project Fund?
Who is this funding meant for?
Project funding can be applied for by groups of 13-19-year-olds who live or study in Turku. A group must consist of at least three people.
Funding is granted for functional projects that are planned and realized by the groups themselves and benefit as many people as possible. The maximum amount granted for one group is 2000 euros. A total of over 10,000 euros of project funding is granted annually. Read the rules before applying.
