Why does my child’s picture appear in Päikky?
It is a security picture used for identification. Relying merely on the children’s names could cause a security risk in situations where the staff would not be able to recognise the children by their names only due to a short-term substitution or on-call duty time. The security picture is saved on a secured server owned by Abilita Oyj.
The early childhood education of the City of Turku has introduced the Päikky system, which is a system for planning and monitoring the care times of children, to be used by the guardians.
The care times should be planned in as much detail as possible. Together with the actual presence times of the child, the planned times form the basis for the invoiced amount of care hours per month.
Turku offers day care, preschool education and playschool activities for children under school age. After parental leave the child can stay at home care or go to municipal or private day care.
According to the law on preschool education a municipality can acquire preschool education services from private service providers. The following service providers have agreed to providing preschool education services during 2015–2016.
The menu changes weekly in municipal day care centres. The menu in family day care is based on the day care centre menu and the childminder prepares the meals.
Lunch is served for children in part-time care or preschool education.
Allergies
The parents have to deliver a certificate from a doctor or dietician yearly about the special diet of the child.
In principle, the meals for allergic children do not differ from those in the normal menu, but the ingredients that cause allergic reactions have been removed.
With the day care application form you can apply for a place in municipal day care, municipal family or three-family day care, or a service voucher for private day care. You should apply for a place at least four months before the beginning of your need for child day care. If you need a day care place because of sudden employment, training or studies, you should apply at least two weeks before the beginning of your need.
