Turku hosts many privately owned student restaurants all around the campuses. To get the student discount, one needs the official student card. Some of the restaurants are open during the evening times and Saturdays as well. Holiday seasons limit the opening hours, but they often serve themed lunches such as Chirstmas lunch and Vappu brunch.

When you are accepted to study in Finland, the international office of your university will coordinate a tutor for you. The tutor will help you with all the practical matters with your arrival, like checking in at the university or UAS and getting a starting package (if your student union has one) if you need one.
Although it varies depending on the university, the tutor should contact you about a month before your arrival at the latest, so keep an eye on your e-mail (and the spam folder!).
Starting a job in a new country can be challengind and raise questions: How should I behave at the workplace? How to adjust to the work community? What are my rights and responsibilities?
Finnish work communities are increasingly multicultural as the number of employees with foreign origin has grown. Finnish work culture still has some special characteristics. For example honesty, punctuality and using your own initiative are valued traits in Finnish work life.
It is important to start planning your future career already during your studies. It's also important that you have gathered some work experience during your studying period, regardless if the job has been an internship position, a summer job or some other type of work project course. Practical experience gives you a lot for the future.
Services provided by higher education institutes and other public organisations help you with your career planning and support you indentifying your own possibilites, interests and skills.
