Basic instructions
Swimming school price for all resident in Turku is 25€ course fee + entrance fees.
For participants from outside Turku the price is €38 + entrance fees.
- There are 10 places and reserve places per group.
- The course fee should be paid at the cash desk during the first time. In addition to the course fee, the normal entrance fees also need to be paid.
- The duration of the children’s swimming school is two weeks, one hour per weekday.
- The age requirement must be met during the swimming school at the latest.
Cancellations
Aqua aerobics are organized at the outdoor swimming pools in Turku in summer. Come and enjoy summer and exercise in fresh air!

The ski rental service is located near the Nunnavuori ski track behind the Nunnavuori football hall. The service is held by the Turku City Sports Services Centre.
From the rental service you can rent maintained skiing equipment for both classic and skating style skiing, for both children and adults. The staff can also instruct you with the waxing and use of the skis. As a novelty, it is also possible to rent a ski chair for adaptive skiing.

Gym ABC course
- Meant for beginners.
- We try to organize Gym ABC courses 1-2 times per season.
- During four classes the course teaches participants the basics of gym training and how to use the equipment.
- The first two classes will focus on how the equipment works.
- During the third class, everyone will prepare their own training programme and list their number of repetitions and weights, as well as their settings and ranges of motion.
- The last class will include discussion about where and how to continue gym training.
In addition to leisure activities, sports clubs organize various swimming schools for children and adults as well as competitive swimming schools at the indoor and outdoor swimming pools in Turku. Paattinen Community Centre pool can be rented for exercise use.
The reservation form can be found on the Sports Services Centre website. The reservation can be for a single time or for a regular time slot for the duration of one season (January-April/September-December).

At the Impivaara football hall, 3 km from the city centre, grass is green the whole year round. Up to 78 500 ball players per year use the artificial grass field. The football hall is part of the Impivaara Sports Centre.
The main users of the hall are football players, but the grass is used also by e.g. baseball and lacrosse players. Most of the users are juniors. During public hours the doors are open for everyone.
In the Eastern side of Turku, in a cave 40 meters below surface, 105 000 people exercise from August to June.
Two ice rinks
The majority of the people who visit the Varissuo Ice Hall are ice skaters. In addition to figure skaters and junior hockey players of sports teams, the ice is also occupied by ringette, ice hockey, and rinkball groups as well as the ice skaters during public hours. These public hours are open for all and free of charge, but hockey sticks are not allowed.
Impivaara Ice Hall is located at the Impivaara Sports Centre approximately 3 km from the City Centre. The ice hall has two rinks, and around 130 000 friends of ice sports visit the hall every year. The majority of visitors are underage, such as day care and school groups as well as junior teams of sports clubs. The later evening time slots are usually for older skaters.
One of the two ice rinks is reserved for public use a couple of times per week. These public hours are open for all and free of charge, but hockey sticks are not allowed.
Gym ABC courses are suitable for people of all ages and conditions – anyone who wants to learn to use gym devices. The course teaches participants the basics of gym training and how to use the equipment.
All the gyms of Turku City Sports Services Centre share the same rules and regulations. This way everyone can train under functioning, clean and safe conditions.
Ice skating
When the winter is cold enough in Turku, you can ice skate on natural ice rinks that can be found around the city. In case the temperature is not right for natural ice to form, you can head to the Park Field artificial ice rink or Kupittaa ice skating rink (‘luistelumato’) which is free of charge. From August to March it is possible to ice skate in Impivaara and Varissuo ice halls during public hours, also free of charge.
Sports and exercise clubs based in Turku have the possibility to apply for affordable club wristbands to the Impivaara Swimming Centre for their members.
The main user groups of the hall to can get Club Wristbands applicable for both individual and group use. For adults the use of the wristband costs 20 € / 10 entries. For under 20-year-olds the use is free. The cost of the wristband is 8 €.
The adult priced wristbands are valid for one year from the purchase date. Other wristbands are valid for one season until September 30th.
