Turku City Sports Services Centre maintains Impivaara and Varissuo ice halls.
During public hours anyone can ice skate from August to April. The public hours are open for all and free of charge, but hockey sticks are not allowed.

The Sports Committee provides approximately € 1.5 million in financial assistance to various sports and exercise associations and other similar organizations annually.
Approximately one half of the assistance provided is for annual activity-related expenses.
The rest is for specific projects such as international activity, renting or building sports facilities, training of coaches, etc.

The city of Turku has many sports facilities which are open to its citizens. Some of the facilities require an advanced reservation.
Many experiences – one card
The Culture Card is a free-of-charge benefit card for lovers of culture. This unique card gets you e-mail updates about Turku’s abundant cultural offerings and ever-changing range of benefits and offers.
There are lifeguards present in Ekvalla and Ispoinen beaches during schools' summer vacation (3rd Jun– 9th Aug 2023) every day between 11.00 and 18.00 (lifeguards have a lunch break from 13.30 to 14.00). Also in Ruissalo Saaronniemi there are lifeguards every day between 11.00 and 18.00 (3.6.–9.8.2023).
Turku has many courts and fields for a variety of games and sports competitions. Some fields must be reserved while others are in public use without reservations.

Information about cultural services aimed at different target groups is available from the Cultural Coordinators of Turku City Recreation Services. They produce and develop services for children and the youth, persons of working age, Swedish speaking persons, the elderly, and immigrants in extensive co-operation with other operators.
