Orthopedic rehabilitation unit offers demanding rehabilitation services for the elderly patients of Turku. Rehabilitation to home or to a place of further treatment is carried out with medical treatment and research, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitaing treatment and activation therapy.
The unit rehabilitates orthopedic patients (patients with fractures, artificial joints) and patients who need help in regaining and improving their functionality.
Patients enter the orthopedic rehabilitation unit with a doctor's referral after a surgical procedure.

The Assistive Technology Unit lends out assistive devices to facilitate mobility, hygiene, toilet use and other needs for people living at home or at home-like institutions.

The assistive devices lent from the Turku Health Care are maintained and repaired in the Assistive Technology Unit. In non-urgent need, please contact the Assistive Technology Unit to schedule an appointment.
Essential housing-related services may include assistance with daily activities.
Services and support measures can be provided in different housing units, group homes and residential care facilities, or as a service to one’s own home. For more information on housing services reserved for persons with severe disabilities or persons with intellectual disabilities, please contact social workers of disability services.

The Contraception Clinic provides contraceptive services to Turku residents under 25 years of age. Older clients may attend the clinic with a referral from a doctor, public health nurse or social worker.

When it comes to foreign-language classes, the main focus is on achieving a comfortable level of using a foreign language in different situations, subjects and concepts. The language is not being taught per se; instead, the foreign language is used to learn a subject matter.
In foreign-language classes, the first two years emphasise understanding the language and building a foundation for foreign-language competence. Reading and writing skills are taught in the students' mother tongue (Finnish).
The geriatric evaluation unit evaluates the condition of the elderly and organises further treatment.
One of the unit's goals is to support the elderly and those in the need of help and assistance, and help them stay at home longer. Another goal is to evaluate the condition of the patient and organise proper treatment faster in case of a sudden medical emergency.
Patients are sent to the unit by the doctor of hospital home care or the personal doctor of the health clinic.
In winter, ski trails are made throughout Turku. The number of ski trails depends on how much snow there is. If there is little snow, skiing is only possible in the Nunnavuori area in Impivaara. If there is a lot of snow, ski trails are made throughout the region.
The Evening High School of Turku (Turun iltalukio) is an upper secondary education school meant for adults where it is possible to finish basic education studies, get the general upper secondary education certificate, pass the Finnish Matriculation Examination or to study single subjects (e.g. languages).

The paternity of a child to be born to a single mother, or a mother in a common-law marriage is established by the child welfare supervisor.
Should the parents marry after the child is born, and paternity has not yet been acknowledged, it must always be acknowledged, however. Otherwise, the child will not officially have a father.
The environmental protection authorities of the municipality supervise the Waste Management Act and its accompanying local ordinances in the municipality.
Turku Environmental Protection supervises the waste management of companies, institutions and real estates and the cleanliness of their surroundings. Supervision is executed through organized inspections of companies and inspections based on hints from inhabitants of the municipality.
The Environmental Protection Departmant reports information about the city's fishing waters, fishing warrants, fishing licences, the maintenance of fishing waters and fishing supervision.
You can buy fishing and net fishing licences for the city's fishing waters from the Customer Service of the Environmental Division (Puolalankatu 5, 2nd floor). The Aura River Information Centre sells fishing licences for the Aura River. Urban Planning and Environmental Committee processes the licence applications of commercial fishers for the fishing waters owned by the city.
Ward 22 specializes in treating heart patients. In the heart monitoring room, central vital functions, such as heart rhythm, blood pressure, the body's oxygen uptake, and secretory functions, can be effectively monitored and managed. The Internal Medicine Ward conducts electrical rhythm transfers, for which patients use prebooked appointments. In addition to actual treatment procedures, the ward also provides diagnostics, more in-depth examinations, rehabilitation, support for self-care, and pain management and counselling as necessary, based on each patient's individual needs.
