Support for informal care

Support for informal care refers to the financial compensation (care fee) and various services provided in order to support the care and other assistance that an elderly person or a person with a disability or illness receives in their home. These services are defined in a care and service plan drawn up for the care recipient.

The compensation is paid to the carer (relative or another close person). The amount of compensation will depend on the amount of support needed and its manageability. The application must be accompanied by a medical report. Upon receipt of the application and its attachments, the manager of informal care will contact the applicant and arrange a home visit. The care fee from support for informal care is taxable income. The agreement on informal care and the decision to grant support is made by the manager of informal care support. A care and service plan are always attached to the informal care agreement. An informal carer is entitled to at least two days of leave per calendar month. An informal carer is entitled to three days of leave per month when informal care is provided around-the-clock.
