Successful Integration is Key

The Talent Turku project, a joint effort by Turku Science Park Ltd. and the City of Turku, is launching a new campaign marketing Southwest Finland and the Turku region to international audiences. The campaign, dubbed #TalentedByNature, takes place in social media, with the goal of increasing the attractiveness of both Turku and the entire region of Southwest Finland for international talents and their families. Additionally, the campaign also strives to lower the threshold for companies to hire international talents.

The Year’s New Citizen of Turku for 2020 is Bosnian-born Aida Bacic. The Multicultural Act 2020 award has been awarded to Monikulttuurinen päivähoito, koti ja koulu ry. Both work in their own spheres to promote multicultural activities that involve both immigrants and native Finns.

The City of Turku organised summer activities for children and adolescents. Summer activities mainly take place outside, online and at facilities of schools and youth centres. The City of Turku follows and obeys national coronavirus guidelines and takes care of hygiene measures in activities.

This year, the City of Turku will use up to half a million euros of will fund yields for promoting the wellbeing of city residents during and after the state of emergency. The city’s own operators as well as registered non-profit associations, organisations and foundations can apply.
