Turku as a Food Destination
The reputation of Turku as a food destination is soaring. The Aura riverfront reveals one top restaurant after another, and many summer events focus exclusively on the worship of food. The fresh offerings of the neighbourhood and the archipelago are available around the year from the Market Hall and the Market Square. Treat your taste buds to the delicacies of Turku!
Food & Fun
The number one gourmet event of the autumn is the Food & Fun festival. It is based on an Icelandic concept and is in Finland for the fourth time. This year the festival will extend to even more restaurants in Turku and also include cocktail bars in the celebrations.
Markets at the riverfront
The annual Archipelago Market and the Herring Market bring the genuine atmosphere of fishing and the Archipelago to the Aura riverfront twice a year. Do not forget the Virgin Potato Festival in spring and the Turku Food and Wine Fair in autumn, which is organized jointly with the Turku International Book Fair!

Market Hall & Market Square
The Market Hall and the Market Square form the heavyweight duo of food traditions in Turku. The Market Hall has served gourmets with traditional delicacies and high-quality ingredients since 1867. In addition to the super popular lunch selection, some of the restaurants are open also in early evenings and on Saturdays.
The Market Square is the centre of commerce in Turku and a popular meeting place. Fresh fish, fruits and vegetables attract the passers-by as well as daily customers. Drinking a cup of coffee in the Market Square or “going for a torikaffe” is almost a duty for all Turku citizens!
