Itsenäisyydenaukion puisto park is a natural part of the Aurajoki river landscape. Many enjoy spending time in the park or simply walking through it, and the park is also a popular venue for events.

Itsenäisyydenaukion puisto park is located by the Aurajoki river, next to the Turku City Theatre and in front of the State Office Building.

Many large events—such as the Down by the Laituri music festival, the opening ceremony of the Myllysilta bridge and the parade on the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces—have been held in the Itsenäisyydenaukion puisto park. The park has also been used as the start and finish area for sports events such as the Paavo Nurmi Marathon and the Scouts’ Street-O city orienteering competition.
