Visual arts class

Students are selected into the visual arts classes from all of Turku's school districts. Studies in the visual arts begin from third grade and continue throughout comprehensive school. The goals of art studies include:

- Comprehensive familiarisation with different aspects of the visual arts
- Awakening interest in the world of the visual arts, photography and film
- Acquiring an understanding of visual communication
- Acquiring the skill to look and to see
- Developing the student's ability to express himself or herself visually
- Developing artistic, creative and personal expression
- Providing individual instruction and guidance

In a visual arts class, the visual arts are studied four hours per week. Emphasis is placed on drawing, painting, modeling, graphics, photography and film. Students for the visual arts classes are selected from second grade, based on tests.

Registration for the test takes place at the end of the autumn semester. Tests are given in January.
