What is a fee decision (“maksupäätös”)?
Day care fees are determined according to size of the family, income, and the length of the day spent in day care, as agreed upon in the care agreement. The fee decision is a notification about the amount of the child’s day care fee; it is not an invoice. The fee decision will be mailed to your home before the actual invoice, and the invoice will be mailed to your home later as per the fee decision.

The parents can make an agreement about the guardianship, residence, and visiting rights of the child. A Child Welfare Officer can verify the agreement between parents in case the parents agree with the contents of the agreement and if the agreement is in the best interests of the child.
The parents can agree on:
When the parents live separately, the child has a right to be in contact with and visit the parent he/she does not live with. Both parents are responsible for ensuring the visiting rights of the child. Whether the parent is the child’s guardian or not does not affect the child’s right to visit the parent. Visiting rights can only be confirmed between a child and a parent.
In addition to normal weekly routines, the visiting agreement can include holidays and vacations.
When parents live separated, they must decide which one of the parents the child is going to live with. The wish and opinion of the child are important, but the decision must not be left to the child.
When considering the residence of the child it is important to take into account how the living and other matters that belong to the everyday life of the child would best work out. From the point of view of the child the important matters are how day care and school can best be organized and how the child can preserve his/her important relationships.
If the parents of the child are married with each other, they are both guardians of the child. If the parents are not married with each other when the child is born, the mother is the sole guardian of the child. Guardianship of a child entails managing the child's affairs and making decisions concerning the child. The guardian is also entitled to get information about matters concerning the child from various officials and looks after the child’s financial matters.
Joint custody
Guardianship of a child means the managing of the child's personal affairs. The guardian has a right to decide about the child’s maintenance, upbringing, and place of residence. The guardian is entitled to receive information about matters concerning the child from various officials, and the guardian also represents the child. The guardian also looks after the child’s financial matters.
The amount of child maintenance support can be changed, if the conditions have substantially changed after the verification of the maintenance support and the change in the maintenance support can be considered reasonable for the parent paying the maintenance support.
Changes can be made to a previously verified maintenance support either with a new mutual agreement between the parents or a by court’s decision.
Child maintenance support is a money payment with which a parent participates in the costs of child maintenance. Parents can agree on the maintenance support between the two of them or together with a child welfare officer. A mutual agreement between parents is not enforceable i.e. distrainable. Also, it does not entitle to child maintenance allowance from Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland), and the parent with the maintenance obligation cannot deduct it in his/her taxation.
A child welfare officer can verify the agreement if the parents agree with its contents.
New city plans result in the formation of new single-family sites, which are assigned to customers based on application and competitive bidding rounds. The time of assignment is dependent on several factors, including the planning situation of the area and the construction schedule of municipal infrastructure. Sometimes sites are also included in an application or competitive bidding round as a result of cancelled assignments.
