You can rent school facilities outside teaching hours weekday evenings, weekends, and holiday periods. When renting a space, you are responsible for keeping the space organised and cleaning the space when your reservation ends.

School gyms

You can book a school gym for sporting events from the City of Turku's sports services.

You can book the facility directly from the principal in the following events:  

  • The gym is not controlled by the sports services, such as multipurpose spaces.  
  • If you are renting the space for something other than exercise or sport event.  
  • If you are renting school facilities other than the gym and your booking continues after 22 in the evening.

School overnight accommodations

The school facilities can be rented outside of teaching hours.  However, not all school facilities are suitable for overnight accommodation.

    Notification of temporary accommodations

    Please remember to submit the required notification of temporary accommodation to the rescue department at least two weeks before the event.

    Appointing a facility manager

    A designated accommodation manager and a facility manager are required for each accommodation reservation.  

    The renter of the facility appoints the accommodation manager, and the school accommodation contact person appoints the facility manager.

    Supervision of persons

    When booking accommodation, always remember to ensure adequate supervision of persons. At night, there must always be at least two supervisors. 

Early Childhood Education Facilities

Early childhood education facilities may be rented or made available for temporary use when they are not occupied, or their activity is not disrupted.  

Contact the day cares supervisor if you want to rent a space.  

Fees

  • Facilities are provided free of charge for activities organised by the parents of students of the school or children of the day care, or activities organised by the student body.  
  • A 20% discount will be granted for regular timeslots using the same space repeatedly throughout the school year or season, e.g. weekly/monthly.
  • The renter pays the supervisor’s if the principal the school or day care deems supervision necessary.  
  • The supervisor is contracted by the city's facilities services, which invoices the costs of the supervision directly from the renter.  
  • If cancellation is made less than two weeks before the event, you are charged a handling fee of €15.  
  • Cancellation must be made in writing to the day care director/school principal involved.
